In 1978 Calvary Fellowship Seattle had grown to nearly 50 home fellowship groups. The Lord led many of these to launch out and plant their own area churches. Two home groups from the Everett area banded together to create Calvary Chapel Everett in the early 1980's. Roger Scalice and Jim Wilkinson were leaders with Roger taking the Pastoral role.
The church continued to grow to 50+ members when Roger felt called to move to the Philippines as a missionary. In 1983 Roger asked Kelley Taylor to assume the Pastors role and the church continued to thrive growing to over 200 members. The church rented the Everett Christian School for many years until it moved across the trestle to Lake Stevens in 2001 changing its name to Calvary Chapel Lake Stevens (CCLS).
Over the next 7 years CCLS continued to grow. In 2008 CCLS sent out close to 100 members back to Everett replanting Calvary Everett with Ken Sutton as their Pastor. Pastor Ken pastored the church for about 4 years before being called back to California to Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. In 2012 Billy Wheeler became the pastor of Calvary Everett and pastored until January 2024 when he was then called to take over the pastorate at Calvary Creekside in Everson, WA.
Brandon Howland then took over the pastoral role in January 2024 and within a few months moved the church meeting location from the previous Hewitt building to the current First Baptist Church location in April 2024.
Throughout the years we have seen the Lord move in the lives of regular people, and we know that He still desires to do a great work in the city of Everett. We are excited to be part of His plan!
