what the bible says about water baptism:
why should i be water baptized?
a believer should be water baptized because Jesus told us to do it. the bible has a lot to say about water baptism and how it is designed to continue until Jesus Christ returns to rapture His church.
- it is spoken of and commanded by Jesus in the gospels (Matt. 28:19)
- it is celebrated in the early church (Acts 2:41, 8:38, 10:44-48, 16:31-33, 18:8)
- it is explained in the Epistles (Galatians 3:27-28, Ephesians 4:5, 1 Corinthians 1:14-17).
how should we baptize? (matt. 3:16, mark 1:9-10, john 3:23, acts 8:38, col. 2:12)
we believe the bible teaches total immerson not pouring, sprinkling or three times under. immersion gives weight and value to the symbolism of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection! the examples in scripture stronly imply immersion rather than any other mode
- ENTERING INTO the water:
- the open admission that my old allegiance and selfishness to my life is dead.
- SUBMERSION UNDER the water:
- the outward acknowledgment that the old man and his ways are dead and buried.
- COMING UP OUT OF the water:
- the public commitment to walk in the newness of life in Jesus Christ.
who should be baptized?
all disciples of Jesus Christ should be baptized. baptism is an act of obedience and is limited to those who have personally received Jesus Christ as their Savior (trusting Him) and Lord (obeying Him).

it is a public declaration of a believer's identification with Jesus and is an outward act signifying the inward work of salvation already completed in the believer by God. it is the believer's way of saying:
- i love Jesus Christ and will follow Him all of my days and...
- i want everyone to know of my commitment.
how does water baptism testify to my new life in christ?
- it testifies to a new focus and purpose of life (psalm 16:8, colossians 3:2)

- to a new boldness to share and proclaim our faith (ephesians 3:11-13)
