Grew up: I grew up in the shadow of Mount Rainier on a cattle ranch that has been in my family since the 1890's in the small town of Alder, WA. The Boettcher family has continued logging and cattle through the generations, and I participated in this family company for a couple years after high school. However, the greatest heritage I have received from my family that affects my biography is following Jesus. This heritage is one I hold fast to, and desire to spread the joy that Jesus has given me despite the loss of certain family members over the years.
As a kid, I spent a lot of time outside exploring and playing games with my siblings and cousins. A lot of my memories include hiking, backpacking, camping, exploring off the beaten trails, and enjoying Creation. I grew up with over twenty cousins living ten minutes from my home, and thus a large importance on family has been ingrained into my heart.
I attended Calvary Chapel Bible College in Seattle for two years in my twenties. I graduated in the Spring of 2017 and continued on to get ordained in the Summer of 2017 at Calvary Everett. That is the short version of my life-story, and if you would desire to get to know me more I would LOVE to chat more in person, and hear about your origins as well!
Fun: I have a tremendous passion for music, and enjoy my time playing a large variety of instruments, such as guitar, piano, harmonica, trumpet, mandolin, and various percussion instruments. I also love to spend time in the outdoors camping, backpacking, hiking, rock-climbing, skiing, travelling, doing water-sports, and a large variety of athletics.
Books: My favorite books (besides the Bible), include the works of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Charles Spurgeon. Charles Spurgeon's book, Lectures to My Students, has had a very large impact on the way I go about ministry, and brings to mind how the truths of the Gospel transcend through all eras.
Movies: My top five favorite movies are Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World, the Disney Robin Hood, and Tangled.
Music: Folk music, jazz, and classic rock are probably my favorite genres of music, but as far as a favorite band I would probably have to say Coldplay (in their earlier years).
Favorite places to visit: I have had my fair share of road trips, and desire to travel to Israel, Thailand, and New Zealand. My favorite place to visit at the moment however is Australia. The Great Barrier Reef is truly a sight to behold, and the Glass House Mountains are a wonderful site to see.
Secret Indulgence: I LOVE Graham Crackers. They make a great addition to ice cream, as well as my morning cereal!
Secret Talent: It is possible that I might be able to have a run at the World Record for the "loudest snap of the fingers." My snap has currently been logged at over 104 decibels!
Ministry Experience: I began my ministry experience by serving in youth group myself giving messages at an early age of fourteen. This spurred a desire to get involved in ministry, and as a result began to get involved with the Salvation Army Camp Arnold. This is a summer camp between the outskirts of Eatonville and Puyallup, Washington. It was here where my desire for kids and youth ministry truly began to grow. I have spent a total of seven years serving at Camp Arnold in large variety of positions such as maintenance, counselor in training, program aid, counselor, recreation director, and as the program director. Throughout these years my passions for youth ministry and the Lord continued to grow.
Throughout this time of camp ministry I started a youth group where I co-youth pastored with Jeff Olive in the city of Tacoma. I served this youth group for four years, and was the Chaplain (Spiritual Emphasis Leader) for Tacoma Baptist School for two years. After this season of life, I returned to school at Calvary Chapel Bible College Seattle where I also began attending and interning at Calvary Everett in the fall of 2015. After interning and being involved with the youth for a year, I became the Youth Pastor of Calvary Everett. I have also been involved with Wyldlife in Everett throughout my time serving. I was ordained in the summer of 2017, and am currently serving in what the Lord has called me to at Calvary Everett.
In this calling I seek to love Jesus, and I live my life following His calling. Matthew 4:19-20 displays the truths of God's calling.
"And He said to them, 'Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.' Immediately they left their nets and followed Him."
Through this life of calling that Jesus has placed on me it is one that I rely upon the words of Psalm 63:8 in relying upon the Lord and His strength and not my own.
Psalm 63:8 "My soul clings to You, Your right hand upholds me."
